Mets center fielder Brandon Nimmo was left out of the starting lineup on Saturday, as manager Buck Showalter said he's dealing with a sore wrist.

"He's got a little sore wrist," Showalter said before the game. "It's been some days better than others. We decided to get an image today, make sure there was nothing structurally wrong there. I know they are talking about whether they are going to inject it or not, but I think it'll be a day-to-day thing. I'll still use him if I need to, that type of thing. There's some discussion going on, but I think it should resolve itself."

Showalter went on to clarify that the MRI results came back clean, and Nimmo will be available to play against the Phillies if needed. Nimmo suffered the minor injury sliding, and has felt it for about three weeks. He will get a cortisone shot in his right wrist.

"Yeah, everything structurally is fine," Showalter said. "They know what they're dealing with. Shouldn't be anything long-term. And I think in some capacity I could use him tonight."

Even though he wasn't in the starting lineup on Saturday, Nimmo was mic'd up on the FOX broadcast, saying there was "no concern" with his injury, which he's been dealing with for about three weeks. Nimmo said his wrist was a bit more "angry" ahead of Saturday's game, which is why he's not starting.

Nimmo has been a consistent starter and leadoff hitter for the Mets this season, as he's played in 42 out of 47 games. He's batting .293 with 46 hits in 157 at-bats, including three home runs, eight doubles, and four triples. Over the past seven games, Nimmo is slashing .321/.364/.429 with three RBI and six runs scored.

The Mets called up outfielder Nick Plummer from Triple-A Syracuse on Saturday. The 25-year-old was a first round pick by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 2015 MLB Draft, and signed a one-year deal with the Mets in November 2021.

He made his MLB debut on April 15 against the Arizona Diamondbacks as a defensive replacement, and then registered his first-career at-bat on April 17. Plummer is still searching for his first big league hit, as he lined out in his only plate appearance. Over 24 games with Triple-A Syracuse, Plummer is hitting .250 with five doubles, six home runs, and 21 RBI.
