The Mets announced on Friday that RHP Seth Lugo will be activated off the IL ahead of the new series against the Diamondbacks.
As Lugo was progressing well in his rehab, it was noted earlier this week there was a "good chance" he returned on Friday. Luckily for the Mets, that came to fruition.
Lugo has been on the IL with right shoulder/biceps tendinitis since May 20, as he noticed some soreness during an outing on May 19.
The Mets could certainly use Lugo back in the bullpen, as the 29-year-old has pitched to the tune of a 3.12 ERA and 1.00 WHIP over 26 innings so far this season. After the Dodgers series that saw the bullpen struggle, having Lugo at Mickey Callaway's disposal is big for this new three-game series in Arizona.
The roster move for Lugo was LHP Daniel Zamora being optioned back to Triple-A Syracuse.
