The Mets have activated outfielder Brandon Nimmo from the IL, the team announced on Sunday.

Nimmo has been playing with Triple-A Syracuse during his rehab assignment. He was recovering from a bulging disc in his neck that has kept him out since May 21.

Mickey Callaway had said that Nimmo would be in the lineup for Triple-A Syracuse on Friday night and then be reevaluated on Saturday.

He won't be in the lineup tonight for the Mets against the Phillies, but Callaway did say pre-game that he'll be available off the bench. With the Mets having a day game tomorrow as well, he should be getting the start.

Callaway applauded Nimmo for working his way back, and said it went very well. He especially likes having him back as an option for his lineups, saying he's a "different hitter" than others on the team.

"He's such a positive guy. You love the way he plays," Callaway said. "He's going to grind out at-bats, see some pitches...He's a little bit different hitter than the hitters we have. So you'll get a little bit of a different look."

Due to his injuries, Nimmo wasn't putting up good numbers earlier this season. He owned a .200/.344/.323 slash line with three homers and 14 RBI over 43 games.

There were other moves made by the Mets, as September call-ups have started. Among them was Sam Haggerty getting called up for the first time in his career. The 25-year-old has been playing with Triple-A Syracuse of late, where he was hitting .310 with a homer, four doubles and nine RBI over 12 games.

Also, LHP Daniel Zamora and RHP Tyler Bashlor get recalled. Both have high ERAs with the Mets this season, but they will look to change that this time around.

Finally, the Mets also activated catcher Tomas Nido from the 7-day concussion IL.
