Mets GM Brodie Van Wagenen continues to churn out offseason moves, as the team announced they have acquired INF J.D. Davis in a trade with the Astros.

The Mets also received minor-league INF Cody Bohanek in exchange for three of their own minor leaguers -- OF Ross Adolph, INF Luis Santana, and C Scott Manea.

It was reported last week that the Mets and Astros were engaged in trade talks, and Seth Lugo was a focal point. Clearly, that didn't pan out.

Davis, 25, played in 42 games with the Astros last season, where he hit .175/.248/.223 with one homer and five RBI. Overall, he's totaled 66 big league games with five homers, six doubles, and 12 RBI.

But that doesn't tell the whole story about Davis' offensive prowess. In Triple-A last season last season, he hit to the tune of .342/.406/.583 with 17 homers and 81 RBI. He has also had tremendous success against lefties in his career, hitting .350 over three minor league seasons.

"J.D. is a versatile offensive talent," Van Wagenen said in an official statement. "He's young, had success vs. lefties and he'll provide depth at the corner positions."

Davis, a third-rounder by the Astros back in 2014, gives the Mets some flexibility as to where they can place him in the field. While mainly a third baseman, he can be used at first as well as the corner outfield slots.

Bohanek can play every infield position but first base, and stayed mostly in High-A ball last season. He hit .212/.323/.274 with two homers and 20 RBI over 65 games.
