With roughly 17 percent of Hall of Fame ballots for the 2019 election in, legendary Yankees closer Mariano Rivera still has 100 percent of the vote.

No player has ever been elected to the Hall of Fame with 100 percent of the vote.

The closest a player came to unanimous selection was in 2016, when Ken Griffey Jr. received 99.32 percent, topping the 98.84 percent Tom Seaver received in 1992.

The expectation has been that Rivera won't become the first player ever to be a unanimous selection -- not because he isn't deserving, but because one of two things will happen with one or more voters...

Rivera could be left off a ballot of a voter who doesn't believe any player is worthy of being voted in during their first year on the ballot (unfortunately, these people do exist and some still have votes).
Rivera could be left off the ballot of a voter who wants to vote for the full 10 players but knows Rivera is going to glide in easily -- making him an omission in order to help the case of another candidate whose case is more up in the air.

Whether he gets 100 percent of the vote or not, Rivera will gain election, becoming the seventh closer ever in the Hall.

Meanwhile, former Yankee Mike Mussina is gaining steam during what is his sixth year on the ballot.

Needing 75 percent of the vote for election, Mussina has so far appeared on 82.6 percent of the ballots after appearing on 63.5 percent of the ballots in 2017.

Andy Pettitte isn't faring as well during what is his first year on the ballot, appearing on 11.6 percent of ballots.
