Yankees notes

With Saturday's win, the Yankees are now 15-2 all-time in playoff games against the Twins, with wins in 12 straight contests. They've won all five of the series between the two teams, as well. In Saturday's 8-2 win, Didi Gregorius highlighted a Yankees playoff record-tying seven-run third inning with a Grand Slam. RHP Masahiro Tanaka picked up the win after pitching 5.0 innings, allowing one earned run on three hits and striking out seven. Through two games, the Yankees have outscored the Twins 18-6, and Yankees pitchers have allowed just six hits and one walk, while striking out 13. Who is starting for the Yankees?

RHP Luis Severino (1-1, 1.50 ERA), who will take the mound for the Yankees in just his fourth start of the year. Severino will also be making his seventh postseason start in his career. Severino has pitched well since returning from shoulder and lat injuries that kept him out for nearly the entire regular season -- in 12.0 innings, Severino has allowed just two earned runs on six hits, has struckout 17 batters and walked six. In the postseason, Severino has pitched 23.0 innings in two seasons, picking up a 1-2 record and 6.26 ERA after allowing 16 earned runs (including five home runs) on 22 hits. He's also struckout 21 batters and walked another 14.

Who is starting for the Twins?

RHP Jake Odorizzi (15-7, 3.51 ERA), who was an All-Star for the first time in his career this season. Will be making his playoff debut in Game 3. Odorizzi was passed over to start Game 2 in favor of rookie Randy Dobnak, which came as a surprise to many. Has been dealing with left hamstring tightness heading into the postseason, but will play Monday. Pitched a career-high 178 strikeouts this season.

Upcoming schedule

The Yankees will either wait on the winner of the Astros-Rays series if they clinch an ALCS berth Monday night, or they will face the Twins for Game 4 of the ALDS Tuesday night at 8:07 p.m.
