Luis Severino made his second start of the season for the Yankees after coming back from a long stint on the injured list and remained extremely hot at the perfect time as New York gets ready for a potentially deep run in the postseason.

Similar to his season debut last week, Severino had a scoreless outing, this time pitching five innings, allowing three hits and striking out nine batters. The righty upped his pitching total to 80 after throwing 67 in his first outing.

His statline through two games now sits at nine innings pitched with a 0.00 ERA, five hits, 13 strikeouts and zero runs. Severino also picked up his first win of the season, leading the Yanks to an 8-3 win.

After losing Dellin Betances to an Achilles tear and Domingo German being put on administrative leave under the joint MLB-MLBPA domestic violence policy last week, Severino's introduction into the Yankee lineup and his performance -- so far -- has been a much needed bright spot for New York.

The Yankees should hope to have Severino's arm near full strength by the time the playoffs role around, with the righty set to start the final game of the regular season in Texas against the Rangers next Sunday.

Expect to see a mixture of Severino, Masahiro Tanaka, James Paxton and J.A. Happ in for the Yankees as they gear up for a shot at the World Series title.
