The Jets have been connected to veteran CB Logan Ryan for awhile now, with SNY's Ralph Vacchiano reporting the team has remained in touch with his agents regarding a potential deal for next season.

Speaking with Peter Schrager on Good Morning Football Thursday, Ryan addressed the Jets rumors, and he agrees it would make a ton of sense to return to his Jersey roots.

"The Jets, it makes a lot of sense because I'm from the area," Ryan said. "I went to Rutgers, 20 minutes from (MetLife Stadium) so familiar with New Jersey. Blue collar, that's how I grew up. I came out of Rutgers in the third round to New England, had to do my job, [and I] continue to do that. That would make sense for sure, but like I said, I'm just trying to do what's best for my family and everything like that."

Other teams have been connected to Ryan throughout this process, but despite having a career year in 2019 with the Titans, he has yet to find a new home. But fan bases have been commenting and reaching out to Ryan on Twitter saying that they would love to have him on their team.

He believes it isn't just because of what he brings on the field, but the work he does off it in the community as well.

"It's been great and honestly been great from all fan bases," he explained. "I've been getting reached out by every fan base. I think they understand me as a human being, me and my charitable efforts in the community, me as a dad, as a husband and going through what everyone else goes through. I try to show that camera all my family and what I do day-to-day, but me as a player especially."

Ryan, 29, had a career-high in tackles (113), passes defended (18), forced fumbles (4), sacks (4.5) and had four interceptions to boot last season. And the Jets could use another solid corner opposite Pierre Desir, who was also picked up in free agency this offseason.

With his Jersey roots, as he pointed out growing up in the Garden State and playing his college ball at Rutgers, all the stars align. It just comes down to what GM Joe Douglas wants to offer.

Obviously, with Ryan on the market for so long, his price tag likely dropped. Vacchiano reported that in the past he was looking for a deal worth around $10 million per season, similar to his Titans deal at three years, $30 million. However, that has likely changed and Douglas could come up with a lower price tag for less money, meaning Ryan could be the steal of free agency.

Time will tell, but Ryan wants to get a deal done sooner rather than later. And it isn't just the Jets on his mind.

"Obviously I want to get a deal done whenever, so I'm open to it," he said about the Jets. "...But I'm completely open for business."
