If Mike Maccagnan listened to Larry David before the 2018 NFL Draft, things would have turned out pretty, pretty, pretty good.

During an appearance Tuesday on The Michael Kay Show, the Curb Your Enthusiasm star and Seinfeld co-creator explained how he tried to make Jackson to the Jets happen.

"I did call Mike Maccagnan before the 2018 draft and I recommended that he draft Lamar Jackson," David said. "I have a witness -- yes, I have a witness."

And how did Maccagnan react?

"He kind of gave me the most condescending (answer)," David said. "He laughed at me. But who can blame him? Nobody thought Jackson was gonna be this (good)."

Instead of taking Jackson, the Jets turned to Sam Darnold at No. 3 in the 2018 draft, and things have worked out just fine. Jackson slipped all the way to No. 32, where the Ravens nabbed him.

David was also asked about what he thinks about head coach Adam Gase. In classic David fashion, instead of answering the actual question, he went on a tangent about Gase's habit of almost always wearing a hat.

"I can't take that hat. I can't take a coach wearing a hat constantly," David said while stifling laughter. "Tells me that there's something about him, he's not comfortable with himself. When I started doing standup, I wasn't comfortable. And I started putting a hat on because it gave me like a different persona, a different character, because I was hiding. That's what he's doing, he's hiding. Either he's hiding baldness or there's something about his personality that he's uncomfortable with."

"You can't trust a man who wears a hat. He's gotta take the hat off," David said with a laugh. "He's gotta face the public. He's gotta be out there!"
