The Knicks have acquired Nets forward Mikal Bridges in a big Tuesday night trade ahead of the NBA Draft.
The Knicks are sending Bojan Bogdanovic, four unprotected first-round picks, a protected first-round pick via the Milwaukee Bucks, an unprotected pick swap and a second-rounder, reports ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
According to SNY's Ian Begley, Bridges wanted to be with the Knicks and his side was "prepared to force the issue" by telling teams he wanted to be dealt and made it clear to the Nets he wanted to reunite with Villanova teammates Jalen Brunson, Donte DiVincenzo and Josh Hart.
This trade for Bridges does not change the Knicks' hope that they can re-sign free agent OG Anunoby and it remains a priority for the organization, per Begley.
Bridges comes to the Knicks after playing all 82 games with Brooklyn last season. The 6-foot-6 small forward averaged 19.6 points on 44 percent shooting. He also averaged 4.5 rebounds and 3.6 assists a game.
Brooklyn picks up a forward to try to replace Bridges' productivity in Bogdanovic. The 10-year veteran came to the Knicks in a trade deadline deal with the Detroit Pistons. In 29 games with New York, Bogdanovic averaged 10.4 points on 43 percent shooting (37 percent from three).
