The Knicks' four-game win streak came to an end on Wednesday night, losing to the Charlotte Hornets 125-114.

Here are some key takeaways...

- After initially being ruled out due to personal reasons, Evan Fournier did end up making the start for the Knicks, joining Alec Burks, RJ Barrett, Julius Randle, and Mitchell Robinson.

The Knicks controlled the tempo early, led by Randle and Barrett. Randle knocked down a couple of early threes, while Barrett did a nice job of getting to the bucket. There wasn’t a ton of defense being played by either team in the first. As a team, the Knicks shot 61.9 percent, while the Hornets weren’t far off at 56.5 percent. It was the home team taking a 31-29 lead into the second, with Barrett leading the way with 11 points to go along with Randle’s eight.

- Charlotte found a bit a groove early in the second quarter, as Kelly Oubre and Fournier traded buckets to tie the game up at 44-44. Cody Martin gave the Hornets a 49-45 lead, but Barrett came back with a three-pointer to cut into the deficit. All-Star LaMelo Ball scored five-straight to put the Hornets up 58-53 with under a minute left in the half. Barrett then made two foul shots to close out the quarter, as the Knicks trailed the Hornets, 58-55.

Barrett scored a game-high 18 points in the first half, shooting 6-for-11 from the field. Fournier chipped in 13 points, including two three-pointers. Ball and Miles Bridges both scored 11 points, while Oubre led Charlotte with 13 points off the bench.

- Bridges hit a three to put Charlotte ahead, but Fournier came right back with a pullup three to tie the game at 63-63. After some back-and-forth baskets, Fournier hit his fourth shot from deep in the game to put the Knicks up 72-71 with about six minutes left in the third quarter. Oubre then hit a three and Randle matched him, but Oubre came right back with another three, giving the Hornets a 82-76 lead. After the timeout, Randle made another three-pointer to get the Garden on their feet. Charlotte closed the quarter on a 7-0 run to go up 91-83 heading into the fourth.

- Immanuel Quickley finished to cut the Charlotte lead to single digits, but then Ball completed the three-point play to put the Hornets up 102-91 with about nine minutes left in the game. Quickley scored again and was fouled, as the Knicks trailed by eight. Randle found Barrett in transition for the two-hand slam, then Quickley scored on a floater (thanks to a goaltending call) and was fouled in the process, hitting the free throw to make it a 104-102 game all of a sudden.

- Bridges took over down the stretch, scoring 14 straight points for the Hornets and giving them a 123-112 lead. Charlotte outscored New York 34-31 in the fourth quarter to end the Knicks' four-game win streak.

- Fournier led the Knicks with 30 points on 10-for-16 shooting, including six three-pointers. Barrett scored 25 points, with only seven in the second half, and Randle finished with 21 points, seven assists, and five rebounds. Bridges let the Hornets with 31 points, while Ball had 20 points and a career-high 15 assists, and Oubre had 21 points off the bench.
