Five things to know from Sunday's game
1) Julius Randle led the Knicks with 26 points and five rebounds, but went 0-for-5 from three in the game. The team as a whole went just 8-for-26 (30.8 percent) from three, while the Celtics shot 15-for-41 from three (36.6 percent).
2) Celtics forward Jayson Tatum proved to be too much for the Knicks, as the Duke product scored a game-high 30 points. He was 5-for-11 from three while adding in seven assists and six rebounds. Guard Jaylen Brown scored another 28 points and had six rebounds, while shooting 4-for-10 from three.
3) Starting point guard Frank Ntilikina left the game with a sore upper back after just seven minutes of action. He has been playing well for the team recently, but only scored three points against the Celtics before leaving the game.
4) Dennis Smith Jr. had a season-high 17 points in 38 minutes, as he played most of the game once Ntilikina exited. Smith Jr. was 6-for-11 shooting and 2-for-3 from three, while also having seven assists and two blocks in the loss.
5) Free throws and turnovers hurt the Knicks once again, as the team was 26-for-37 (69.4 percent) from the foul line and had 14 turnovers.
