Things to know about Thursday's game

1) This one felt different from the start with the Knicks getting off to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter. They would finish with a solid 28-13 lead, which set the tone for the rest of this one. The Hawks would tie it up at 47 with 1:28 left in the second after an Omari Spellman three. But New York went into the half with the lead, and didn't lose it the entire second half.

2) After having a couple rough games from the field, Dennis Smith Jr. led the Knicks with efficiency tonight. He shot 7-for-10 from the field with 19 points, five rebounds, one assist and one block. He should have had more points, though, as he missed five free throws.

3) Kadeem Allen continues to impress, scoring 14 points on 5-for-9 from the field. He also tallied a team-high nine assists with two rebounds as well.

4) The Knicks' defense was stingy, holding the Hawks to 36.3 percent from the field (33-for-91). Atlanta was even worse beyond the arc, as they shot 26.3 percent as a team. New York also collected nine blocks to the Hawks' four, with Mitchell Robinson totaling four blocks for the second straight night.

5) This win for the Knicks was the first since their victory over the Lakers on the road on Jan. 4. But they have still yet to win on Madison Square Garden's court since Dec. 1.
