RJ Barrett's rookie season with the Knicks came to an end sooner than anyone could have anticipated, but the former third overall pick still took time on Saturday to celebrate one year since being drafted.

"Wow I got drafted a year ago!! This year has been the most interesting year of my life by far and I've really grown on and off the court," Barrett said in an Instagram post. "New York I wanna thank y'all for embracing the young rook coming in, supporting me and making me feel at home!! I'm just really excited to see what the future holds"

The 2019-20 season was another disappointing campaign overall for the Knicks, who went 21-45 in the season that was shortened due to the coronavirus pandemic, finishing 12th in the Eastern Conference.

But despite all the negatives, Barrett managed to be one of the team's bright spots, as the rookie started 55 of the 56 games he played in, averaging 14.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.6 assists. He had some inconsistencies with his shot, but showed off his play-making ability and his all-around game, finishing third on the team in scoring.

The former Duke product registered his best game of the season in a December win over Atlanta, pouring in 27 points, six rebounds, and one assist to go along with a +13.

There's still plenty of uncertainty surrounding the Knicks as a franchise (with who their next head coach will be still unknown), but Barrett appears to be a very strong piece for the roster's foundation moving forward.
