7/12/18 | Shattenkirk skated on Thursday, with the Junior Rangers, and said that it's been "reassuring" to slowly feel that his injured leg is returning to full strength. (NHL.com)

He said that he isn't "overdoing it" but that having the season end for the Rangers when it did allowed him to get into his summer program early and go through "intense" rehab to get things back on an even playing field with his other leg. (NHL.com)

Shattenkirk said that his rehab process is "pretty much done" and that he is in "full swing" of his summer workouts. (NYR)

He said that he is able to do everything with his left leg that he is doing with his right and that he has been able to go "full bore" for the last month or so. (NYR)

5/28/17 | Last week, Kevin Shattenkirk said that everything is moving well right now with his knee and that he is focused on building up his leg strength.

He noted that having this amount of time off for the summer allows himself to "get back to 100% and be ready for September."

Shattenkirk added "I haven't skated and played in a game since January, I wish I could play tomorrow. I have that hunger and drive and it's really been good for me. A couple of months into my summer training and be the best player and the player that everyone expected to be."

He added that having David Quinn, a coach he is comfortable with, gives him a lot of confidence heading into next season.

In terms of being a leader, Shattenkirk said "at this level it's all about integrity and someone who can carry that along with them, and we have a lot of guys in the locker room who can do that. It's important that one player doesn't just lead a team, that the whole team leads the team and that is something we will carry into the season."

Shattenkirk made similar comments at the end of the season.
