It didn't look that way at first, but OLB Jordan Jenkins will indeed be re-signing with the Jets on a one-year deal, SNY's Ralph Vacchiano confirmed on Monday. The deal is worth $5 million.

The Jets initially let Jenkins walk into free agency, knowing that he may not return. The Giants were a team that Vacchiano reported as being interested in landing the man that led their crosstown rival in sacks with eight last season. However, after remaining patient, the Jets made an offer and Jenkins wanted it.

According to Mehta, Jenkins' main reason for returning was to play for defensive coordinator Gregg Williams once again. And that makes sense because of that sack total, as Williams found a way to use Jenkins effectively.

It also makes sense for Jenkins to return due to C.J. Mosley and Avery Williamson both coming back from injury. Mosley battled a groin injury all year long, playing in just two games in his first season with the Jets. And Williamson was lost in the preseason with a torn ACL in the second preseason game against the Falcons.

Jenkins, then, picked up that slack a bit along with the other replacement linebackers like Neville Hewitt and rookie Blake Cashman.

In 14 games (13 starts), the 25-year-old had 32 tackles -- nine for loss -- 13 quarterback hits, two forced fumbles, and three passes defended.
