Ahead of a win-or-go-home Game 2 against the San Diego Padres, the Mets made a change to their Wild Card Series roster.
Relief pitcher Joely Rodriguez was removed due to a shoulder injury and he was replaced by Taijuan Walker, according to multiple reports Saturday evening.
The move means David Peterson is the lone left-handed relief pitcher in the Mets' bullpen.
Rodriguez will miss the NLDS if the Mets advance.
Rodriguez did not pitch in the Mets' 7-1 defeat in Game 1. He posted a 4.47 ERA (3.23 FIP) in 50.1 innings over 55 games during the regular season, his first with the Mets. Rodriguez allowed just three runs over his final 11 appearances in September and October.
Walker made 29 appearances (all starts) in 2022 and pitched to a 3.49 ERA (3.65 FIP) with a 1.195 WHIP and 132 strikeouts in 157.1 innings.
Walker was left off the Mets' original roster after he struggled down the stretch, allowing 32 hits and 15 runs (14 earned) in his final six starts with a 3.63 ERA over 34.2 innings.
