The Jets have added a veteran wide receiver to the list of weapons at Justin Fields’ disposal.
The team announced that they have signed Josh Reynolds to a one-year deal, with Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reporting the deal is worth up to $5 million.
Reynolds, 30, was originally a fourth-round pick of the Los Angeles Rams in 2017. A big target at 6-foot-3, 192 pounds, Reynolds has already played for five NFL teams, but he had perhaps his best years with Detroit from 2021-23. In 2023, Reynolds hauled in 40 passes for 608 yards and five touchdowns.
He also has plenty of familiarity with Aaron Glenn and Tanner Engstrand from their time together in Detroit, as well as with GM Darren Mougey, who was part of the Denver front office that signed Reynolds last offseason.
With Davante Adams released earlier this offseason and Mike Williams traded to Pittsburgh at last year’s deadline, the Jets needed to add some depth at receiver behind Garrett Wilson. There were also questions about whether or not Allen Lazard would stick around with Gang Green, but Lazard is still on the roster and will look to improve upon two mediocre seasons in New York.
