Gang Green didn't waste much time at all in finding a replacement for Robby Anderson.
SNY's Ralph Vacchiano has confirmed that the Jets have signed wide receiver Breshad Perriman to a one-year deal worth a max of $8 million, with $6 million guaranteed.
The wide receiver market had been moving at a very slow pace, but once Anderson agreed to a two-year deal with the Carolina Panthers, other receivers quickly started coming off the board. Shortly after it was announced that Devin Funchess was heading to the Packers, the Jets struck an agreement with Perriman.
At 26 years old, Perriman will already be joining his fourth NFL team. Originally a first-round pick of the Ravens in 2016, Perriman spent two seasons in Baltimore before being cut. After a four-day stint with the Washington Redskins in which he never played a game, Perriman was then picked up by Cleveland in October 2018. He spent one season in Cleveland before another season in Tampa Bay.
Jets GM Joe Douglas was with the Ravens when the team drafted Perriman with the 26th pick.
Perriman has never quite lived up to his first-round status, but he has the physical tools to be a weapon in the Jets' offense. Listed at 6-foot-2, 215 pounds, Perriman has the speed to be a deep threat and to make defenders miss in the open field.
Over his four-year career, the UCF product has totaled 95 catches for 1,561 yards and 11 touchdowns. He put up solid numbers for Tampa last season despite playing alongside other weapons like Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and OJ Howard, catching 36 passes for 645 yards (17.9 YPC) and six touchdowns
