When the Jets took the practice field on Monday, there was a bit of a change at cornerback.
While Darryl Roberts have been the starting corner on the right side with the first-teamers thus far, undrafted rookie Kyron Brown out of Akron was opposite him. And Brown was exposed early on during team drills, as Robby Anderson flat out beat him on a crossing route for a 40-yard gain.
The reason Brown was in with the first team to begin with was due to Trumaine Johnson's hamstring injury that now has him out indefinitely. The Jets were already short when it comes to cornerback depth.
But maybe there's an in-house solution they could consider.
Jamal Adams was at the podium after practice today, and he was "dead serious" when he said he'd be the next man up at corner if that's what was needed.

"If they need me to go to corner, I'll go to corner, whatever," he said. "I'm dead serious."
Injuries happen in this sport, and Adams is fully aware that the next man up mentality must be adopted by all 53 men on the roster during the season because of it. But can he really make the transition from safety to corner? While it's highly unlikely the Jets would do that, Adams knows he can because of his versatility and understanding of what the position entails.
"Next up. Obviously things happen," he said. "That's what we're coached to do in [the] defensive back room. We're all coached the same, we're well coached and everybody is getting the same treatment as far as coaching so everybody knows the expectations once we get out there as a defensive group."
Adams did, however, see an injured secondary piece back at practice in his fellow safety Marcus Maye. This tandem is one that the Jets are still confident could be one of the best in the league as long as Maye can stay between the hashes. The Jets are still taking it slow, though, to insure Maye is 100 percent.
"It's always good to see him progressing and obviously getting back out there," Adams said about Maye. "Next up is going to be he's fully out there with me and I'm excited to have him back."
Hopefully the Jets can get Johnson back, so their cornerback situation doesn't stay in question when the season starts. If it does, though, Adams won't be afraid to raise his hand to take his spot if need by.
That's the definition of a team player.
