Quincy Enunwa tweeted on Thursday night that he has been fined nearly $28,000 by the Jets for missing two treatment sessions.
In the Twitter thread, Enunwa claims that one of the missed sessions came when he took his wife, who is a veteran, out for lunch on Veterans Day. Enunwa attributed the second missed treatment to an emergency at his house.
Enunwa played in just one game for the Jets this season, suffering his second neck injury of his career in a Week 1 loss to Buffalo before heading to Injured Reserve.
"The biggest reason it hurts is that I'm on IR for the second time in my career and the doctor told me I have a 50/50 chance of coming back to play," the wide receiver tweeted. "I shouldn't even HAVE to be in that building being reminded everyday of what I can't do."
SNY's Ralph Vacchiano notes that there has been considerable doubt inside the Jets organization about whether Enunwa could or should ever play again after suffering a second neck injury.
When Enunwa was originally placed on IR in September, Vacchiano reported that his latest injury "could be" career threatening, but that they were a long way from determining that.
In five seasons with the Jets, the Nebraska product has recorded 119 catches for 1,617 yards and five receiving TDs.
