With training camp starting up this week for the Jets, safety Marcus Maye finds himself sidelined once again.

The Jets announced on Monday that Maye will be placed on the Active/PUP list along with another safety in Brandon Bryant. Rookie cornerback Bless Austin was also placed on the Active/Non-Football Injury list.

Maye just can't catch a break, as he still seems to be working his way back from his ailments that forced him on the season-ending IR last season. The former second round selection broke his thumb in Week 6, though he only sat out one week after getting a pin inserted in it. He also missed the first three games of the season with a foot injury, while dealing with a shoulder issue as well.

Maye's fellow safety in Jamal Adams was excited while talking about his partner making his way back to the field.

"He's a playmaker, man. There's no forgetting about Marcus Maye," Adams told the team's website. "I'm definitely humbled to share the field with him and call him a friend, call him a brother. He's going to be fine and he's going to make plays. He's the best, if not one of the best free safeties in the league."

Talking about offseason workouts, Maye added: "It's definitely frustrating watching on the sideline because I know I could be out there right now, just running around with the team getting reps. "Once I get out there and get the green light, I'm definitely going to go."

Hopefully Maye's green light comes sooner rather than later, as he wants to be a part of a defense that is expected to make a big leap under new defensive coordinator Gregg Williams in 2019.
