After a 30-9 Titans beatdown on the Jaguars Thursday night, the Jets were officially eliminated from playoff contention this season.

A 3-9 Jets team had extremely slim chances of staying afloat, but Tennessee put the nail in the coffin to send New York packing after Week 17 for the eighth straight season. This playoff drought is the second-longest in franchise history.

In turn, head coach Todd Bowles' job could be in some serious jeopardy. SNY's Ralph Vacchiano says it "seems like a given at this point" considering the lackluster performance the team has had all season long. So, while fans will be focused on the Jets' high draft pick, finding a new head coach will also be on their radar.

Among the favorites is recently-fired Packers head coach Mike McCarthy, who will likely have more than a few suitors. The Jets may even dip into the NCAA, and scoop up a coach like Oklahoma's Lincoln Riley.

Looking at the rest of the season, all the Jets can do now is play spoiler, and they have the opportunity in some of their upcoming matchups. They face the Texans and Packers in Weeks 15 and 16 respectively, and those are two playoff hopefuls. Houston leads their division while Green Bay is struggling to stay alive.

There is also the need for players hoping for a new contract as well as depth pieces and rookies to impress to cap off the year. But the Jets will ultimately have to wait until next year to have playoff hopes again, and there will certainly be some change to make those hopes turn into reality.
