As the Jets enter the final quarter of their schedule in the 2018-2019 season, the reality that there will be no postseason football for Gang Green has set in. But that does not mean players are packing it in on the whole.

That's certainly not how Jets defensive lineman Leonard Williams sees it.

"You can tell guys are tired of it - they want to win, no more losing," Williams told the New York Post on Friday. "I think it shows a lot."

The fourth-year defensive end saw his team narrowly miss out on the postseason in his rookie year when a 10-6 record failed to get the Jets in via the wild card route. Since then a pair of 5-11 finishes -- in the 2016 and 2017 campaigns, respectively -- has left Williams on the outside looking in when it comes to playoff football. New York has failed to make the postseason in eight consecutive years, or in other words since the days that Mark Sanchez was under center.

The team has lost its last six games to fall to 3-9 overall. A win on Thursday by the Tennessee Titans (30-9 over the Jacksonville Jaguars) mathematically eliminated the Jets from playoff contention.

Williams, who has tallied 17 tackles and three sacks in a dozen games this season, said the goal for every team is to "go to the playoffs" and to "play for a championship".

"That's what we're playing for," Williams said. "Everyone wants to play for a championship. It sucks that we're knocked out of that, but at the same time, we see it every year - teams check out when they start to lose. When they're not going to the playoffs, you see guys not in it. That's what I love about this team is everyone is still involved."

Jets head coach Todd Bowles said that there's been no change of course heading into Sunday's battle on the road with the Buffalo Bills.

"We're trying to win," Bowles said Friday to reporters.
