Jets linebacker C.J. Mosley hasn't played since Week 1 due to a groin injury, but that streak will come to an end on Monday night against the Patriots.

"I'm playing Monday night," he told reporters on Thursday.

Mosley participated in individual drills on Wednesday, and the update on him before Thursday's practice was even more promising from head coach Adam Gase.

"He wants to give it a shot (on Monday against the Patriots), so he's trying to do everything he can to get himself ready," Gase said. "This is -- it's kind of what he went through before earlier in the season, where he bounced back pretty fast. I don't know if he's a quick healer or what, but he finds a way to get himself healthy quick."

Mosley made an enormous impact in Week 1, when he had a pick-six, recovered a fumble, and had six total tackles.

The Jets' defense hasn't been the same without him, and getting him back in time for Monday night's enormous game against the Patriots in Foxborough would be a huge boost.

Gase spoke Wednesday about the potential impact of getting Mosley back.

"As impactful as getting a starting quarterback back," Gase explained. "It's that impactful. ... Obviously he's a dynamic playmaker and he gets his hands on the ball. But he cleans up a lot of things. He can mask a lot of errors. He's a very intelligent player. He's seen a lot of football. So he sees things coming that young guys don't."

The Jets signed the 27-year-old Mosley to a deal worth $85 million before the season.
