With the NFL trade deadline looming, the Jets could be in the market to improve the team amid an unexpected 5-3 start and potential playoff run.

According to Pro Football Talk’s Peter King, the disappointing 3-5 Denver Broncos could be shopping Bradley Chubb since he’s set to become a free agent after this season.

The Jets and the Dolphins are interested and considering sending a first-round draft pick to Denver to make the deal happen, per King’s report. Chubb is owed $7.1 million for the last 10 weeks of this season.

According to SNY NFL Insider Connor Hughes, it's common practice for GM Joe Douglas to call a team to check in on their asking price, but that doesn't mean the Jets are actively interested or pursuing the trade.

Hughes also notes that the Jets are not in desperate need of an upgrade at the edge rusher position, especially not at what it would cost the team to trade for Chubb.

Currently, the Jets are tied for 13th in the league in sacks with 21. Entering Sunday, the Jets ranked 10th in overall defense and 13th in pass defense. Chubb can improve those numbers.

Since being drafted fifth overall in the 2018 draft by the Broncos, Chubb has 26 sacks, 170 total tackles and six forced fumbles. Unfortunately, Chubb has also missed 24 games in his five-year career due to injury. But in eight games this season, the 26-year-old has 5.5 sacks and 15 solo tackles.

With a 5-3 record, and after their 22-17 loss to the Patriots in Week 8, and the Bills on the horizon, New York could be looking for upgrades to make a late-season run at the playoffs.

The 2022 NFL Trade Deadline is set for 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 1.
