The Jets are bringing back another one of their own.
SNY's Ralph Vacchiano has confirmed that the Jets have re-signed linebacker Neville Hewitt to a one-year, $2 million deal.
Hewitt joins Alex Lewis, Brian Poole, and Arthur Maulet on the list of players the Jets have brought back during this early wave of free agency.
A former undrafted free agent signing of the Miami Dolphins out of Marshall in 2015, Hewitt first signed with the Jets in 2018, and then again in 2019.
The 26-year-old was a bit of a pleasant surprise for the Jets last season. He played in 12 games, starting all 12, intercepting two passes, recording 3.0 sacks, with 75 combined tackles.
The Jets had so many injuries in their linebacking unit last season, from Avery Williamson's torn ACL in the preseason, to C.J. Mosley being sidelined for all but two games, and Blake Cashman playing in just seven games. Hewitt filled in nicely in Gregg Williams' defense, and has now earned another one-year contract thanks to his steady play.
