The Jets are keeping some cornerback depth by bringing back Arthur Maulet, his agency Icon Sports Consulting LLC announced via Twitter.
Last season with Gang Green was the most Maulet played in a season due to cornerback issues, whether it was Trumaine Johnson -- who just got released -- getting benched or injuries.
Maulet saw six starts over his 12 games, collecting one interception, two passes defended, and one fumble recovery. He also had 38 combined tackles with five for a loss.
Maulet is the second corner to return to the Jets, with Brian Poole signing another one-year deal worth $5 million. But GM Joe Douglas is likely bringing him back to play in the same depth role. Darryl Roberts is still on the roster, but he could soon be cut as well.
It will be interesting to see what Douglas does to shore up that group, as it would stand like this if Roberts is indeed cut: Poole (slot), Maulet, Bless Austin and Nate Hairston.
