Former Giants star Odell Beckham is set to make his return to MetLife Stadium on Monday night when the Browns play the Jets, and the fireworks have already started.

After practice on Thursday afternoon, Beckham was asked about Jets defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, and naturally, he did not hold back any feelings towards the coach.

"Nobody in the NFL is really out to do stuff like that, I had players on this team telling me that's what he was telling them to do," Beckham told reporters, according to Cleveland.com. "Take me out of the game, and it's preseason. So you just know who he is ... that's the man calling the plays."

Beckham referred to an incident from a 2017 preseason game when the Browns played the Giants, and the wide receiver suffered a high-ankle sprain.

Williams was Cleveland's defensive coordinator from 2017-18.

At his 11:30 a.m. media availability Friday, Adam Gase was asked about Beckham's comments on Williams, whom the Jets head coach gave an honest assessment of based on what he has seen so far in working with him.

"For me, I haven't seen (what Beckham claimed)," Gase said. "I've been in a lot of meetings -- both defensive meeting(s) with the coaching staff and when our guys have been coaching players, whether it be position meetings, defensive team meetings. Everything has always been about us. It's always been about playing fast, executing our assignments, effort, energy.

"I've never heard talk like (purposely injuring someone), so I can't say what he's saying because I've never heard of that. So I would just say everything I've heard from Gregg Williams and our staff has been the type of things that we want football to be played like, which is about -- it's about us, energy, effort.

"Everything I've seen, we're coaching it clean."

Later in the 2017 season, Beckham broke his ankle during a week five game, ending his season immediately.

In just four games during the 2017 season, he had 25 receptions for 302 yards and three touchdowns.

Beckham was asked if the injury in the preseason game led to the broken ankle he suffered later that season.

"That's exactly it," Beckham said. "It's something that I'll never forget. It changed my life forever."

The wide receiver seemed convinced that his injury was caused by Williams' coaching strategy.

"If I was a coach, I would never teach what he teaches," Beckham said. "That's just what he does, there's no real getting under my skin."
