There wasn't much positive that came out of the Mets' loss in St. Louis on Saturday afternoon, but Jeff McNeil did make franchise history.

With an infield single in the top of the seventh inning, McNeil became the fastest Met to reach 100 career hits.

McNeil has been raking to start the season. After today, he already has 26 hits and owns a .388 average, which is good for fifth in the Majors. He also has 10 RBI, five doubles and one triple on the year as well.

"The Flying Squirrel" began his Mets career almost the same way he's hitting at the moment. In just 63 games last season, McNeil tallied 74 hits over 225 at-bats for a .329 average.

Coming into Spring Training, the Mets knew they needed to keep McNeil's lumber in the lineup with Robinson Cano taking over at second. Using his versatility, McNeil has made the transition to the outfield, and can be put anywhere in Mickey Callaway's lineup card.
