Walker Lockett tossed 58 pitches over five innings on the mound for the Mets against the San Francisco Giants on Saturday during an 11-4 win. He allowed one run on five hits while striking out three.

It was a day he'll never forget.

In Lockett's third-career start with the Mets, he finally earned his first win in the majors while filling in for Zack Wheeler

"Today I just attacked them and was able to get quick outs," Lockett, who entered the day with an 11.74 ERA, said. "It feels good, especially after some not-so-good starts and OK starts."

His teammates were happy to join in on the celebrations with Lockett, too.

"It's his first big-league win. You definitely have to make it memorable for him," Dominic Smith said. "He's going to remember it forever, but for us it's always fun to get him messed up like that."

In a team tradition, Lockett jumped in a laundry cart and was doused with... everything but the kitchen sink.

"Pretty eventful shower in there. It was good, feeling better now," Lockett said.

Lockett couldn't keep track of everything he was covered in. No worries, Pete Alonso, who received a similar washroom experience following his first home run, did that for Lockett.

"Beer, shaving cream, mayonnaise and ketchup... maybe some baby powder," Alonso said.

"I think the only thing that was missing was the mustard, I think that was the only thing that was left out. But we got him good," Alonso added, comparing his post-game celebration earlier this year to Lockett's on Saturday.

The hope for the Mets would be that Lockett, 25, carries the momentum from his first win and continues to improve. With the trade deadline approaching, starting pitchers like Wheeler and Jason Vargas are on expiring contracts and the Mets could move them. There could be an opportunity for Lockett on the horizon.

Manager Mickey Callaway said following the game he sees potential in Lockett.

"I think he can be a long-term option at the back end," Callaway said. "He's very comfortable out there. You don't see a lot of nerves, you don't see the typical, 'I'm trying to stay up here in the big leagues' type mentality. You see a guy that has confident stuff."
