Before he was ultimately hired by the Giants as head coach, Joe Judge nearly missed his interview for the job.

Judge opened up on his hectic process, interviewing with Mississippi State before he did the same for the Giants, in Peter King's Football Morning in America column.

Upon interviewing with the Giants last Monday morning, Judge got off at the wrong train station.

On a 6:43 a.m. Amtrak Acela train from Providence, R.I., Judge was supposed to get off at Newark Penn Station in New Jersey.

He confused that destination for New York Penn Station, stepping out in Midtown Manhattan.

Meanwhile, in Newark, a car from the Giants was supposed to pick Judge up and bring him to East Rutherford, N.J.

When Judge got off at New York Penn Station, he looked for his car while standing at 34th Street.

The Giants rep that was in the car to pick Judge up told him that he got off at the wrong station, and Judge called an audible with an Uber from the city to East Rutherford.

Judge said that he arrived to East Rutherford at 10:45 a.m., just in time for his interview at the top of the hour.

"I didn't know there were two Penn Stations," Judge said. "No problem. I got there just in time."

At what turned out to be a three-hour interview with co-owner John Mara, general manager Dave Gettleman and assistant general manager Kevin Abrams, Judge never once glanced at his notes.

"I went into the interview with the approach that everything I was going to say was coming from the heart," Judge said. "I wasn't trying to sell them anything. If they don't like me on the interview, then it's better to find that out right away."
