It is far from unprecedented that teams give up on talented players because of their personalities.

This is often the case with wide receivers, who many carry a "diva" label, and apparently that was a major factor in why the Giants dealt Odell Beckham Jr. to the Browns on Tuesday.

Beckham often acted foolish at times on and off the field and a source told SNY's Ralph Vacchiano that the Giants thought Beckham was a "pain in the ass" and that the team wanted to move on from him before it became worse.

In return, the Giants received a first-round pick, a third-round pick and 23-year-old safety Jabrill Peppers in exchange for a top-3 wide receiver in his prime.

Here are some other trades of "diva" wide receivers and how they compare to the Giants' trade of Beckham:

Antonio Brown traded to Raiders

Beckham was not even the only "diva" receiver to be traded this week. The Steelers dealt Antonio Brown to the Oakland Raiders in exchange for a third and fifth-round pick in the 2019 draft.

Brown, 30, is a little older than Beckham and also forced his way out of Pittsburgh. So there are some different variables at play here but it is still significantly less than what the Browns had to give up for Beckham.

Santonio Holmes traded to Jets

While Holmes may not have had been labeled a "diva" until his Jets days, the Steelers still shockingly dealt him after he was the Super Bowl MVP in 2009, sending him to the Jets for a fifth-round pick. Holmes was 25 and in the prime of his career but he was not quite the same caliber receiver as Beckham or Brown. The Steelers made the most of the trade, though, subsequently trading the pick they received to the Cardinals for a sixth-round pick, which they used to draft ... Antonio Brown.

Randy Moss to the Raiders

Perhaps a comparable figure to Beckham, a 28-year-old Moss was traded in 2005 to the Raiders for a first-round (seventh overall) pick, a seventh-round pick and LB Napoleon Harris. Moss had established himself as one of the best receivers in the game but only played two years in Oakland before he was dealt again.

Minnesota, meanwhile, was unable to capitalize on the pick, drafting wide receiver Troy Williams, who lasted just five years in the league.

Randy Moss to the Patriots

Moss was disappointing in his two yeas with Oakland, finishing his final season with career lows in receptions, yards and touchdowns. The Raiders traded Moss to the Patriots for much less than what they gave up, sending the 30-year-old to New England in exchange for a fourth-round pick. It was the best thing to happen to Moss, who reignited his career with New England while the Raiders used the pick on DB John Bowie, who played in five NFL games.

Terrell Owens to the Eagles

Going all the way back to 2004, the 49ers worked a three-way deal with the Ravens and Eagles to send the star receiver to Philadelphia. The Ravens sent a second-round pick to San Francisco while the Eagles gave them DE Brandon Whiting, who played just one more season in the NFL. The Eagles gave the Ravens a fifth-round pick to Baltimore while they received Owens.

Owens spent two years in Philadelphia, although they were eventful and included a Super Bowl appearance. But he clashed with quarterback Donovan McNabb and after two seasons they released him.
