Another tough loss for the Giants on Monday night only adds on to the argument that Pat Shurmur shouldn't be the man to lead this franchise in the future. And according to ESPN's Jordan Raanan, that is the expectation.

Whoever he is talking to is hearing that Shurmur "won't survive" this season that has arguably been one of the worst Giants teams in recent memory. They tied a franchise record for the longest losing streak at nine games, and that could very well continue on Sunday, even with the lowly Dolphins on the schedule.

Things have gotten so bad in East Rutherford that Raanan is also hearing that GM Dave Gettleman "is also in trouble." Raanan's not the only one, with the Boston Globe's Ben Volin using the same "in trouble" language in his reporting Monday that Gettleman is among NFL GMs who could get the boot.

When players like Saquon Barkley come out and say, "We're a team that finds a way to lose a lot of games," changes are on the horizon. Would John Mara and Steve Tisch go as far as to axe Gettleman along with Shurmur, though?

First, as SNY's Ralph Vacchiano points out, it must be said that Mara wants to remain patient with Shurmur because it isn't a good look to fire another head coach after just two seasons once again. Ben McAdoo was just relieved of his duties before the 2017 season ended.

And the same goes for Gettleman, if not more. Gettleman -- whatever his plan might be -- is in place, and the Giants might be remissed to letting him go just two years into the rebuild.

As we said, though, things are truly awful for this team that has made the playoffs once since their 2011 Super Bowl run, and owns a 10-35 record in their last 45 games. It may force Giants ownership to make drastic changes.

There's still three games left to play on the season, and the Giants most likely won't make any big moves like that during that time. But, once Dec. 30 comes around, Mara and Tisch will likely sit together to go over what the best move is for their organization.

Shurmur is the more likely one to go. But Gettleman may be packing his things with him.
