The updated 2020 World Series odds have the Mets near the top of the pack, tied for the fourth-best odds in the National League and seventh-best odds in all of baseball.

If the odds match the eventual 2020 standings, the Mets would be set up to nab the second Wild Card spot in the NL, with the Braves winning the NL East and the Nats snatching the first Wild Card spot.

The full odds, per Bovada:

New York Yankees: +325
Los Angeles Dodgers: +600
Houston Astros: +700
Atlanta Braves: +1000
Washington Nationals: +1400
Minnesota Twins: +1600
New York Mets: +1800
St. Louis Cardinals: +1800
Philadelphia Phillies: +2000
Boston Red Sox: +2200
Chicago Cubs: +2500
Cincinnati Reds: +2500
Cleveland Indians: +2500
Tampa Bay Rays: +2500
Chicago White Sox: +2800
Oakland Athletics: +2800
Los Angeles Angels: +3000
Milwaukee Brewers: +3000
San Diego Padres: +4000
Arizona Diamondbacks: +5000
Texas Rangers: +6600
Toronto Blue Jays: +6600
Colorado Rockies: +15000
San Francisco Giants: +15000
Pittsburgh Pirates: +25000
Seattle Mariners: +25000
Baltimore Orioles: +100000
Detroit Tigers: +100000
Kansas City Royals: +100000
Miami Marlins: +100000

While the Mets haven't done a ton this offseason -- signing Dellin Betances was their biggest move -- most odds-makers and projection systems seemingly view what New York did in the second half of the 2019 season as more indicative of their talent than the struggles they went through in the first half.

The 2019 Mets wound up winning 86 games, just missing out on a Wild Card spot despite having one of the worst bullpens in their history. And if the 2020 squad puts together two consistent halves, the Mets should be in position to make the playoffs for the first time since 2016, when they lost to the Giants in the Wild Card game.
