On Wednesday night, the 2019 MLB season came to an end with the Washington Nationals beating the Houston Astros in seven games in the World Series. Fans already looking forward to next season can now place their bets for the 2020 World Series winner.

According to DraftKings, the Mets open with +2000 odds to win the 2020 World Series.

They are tied with the Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, Cleveland Indians, and Tampa Bay Rays at +2000 odds to bring home the Commissioner's Trophy.

As for the rest of the NL East, the Washington Nationals and Atlanta Braves both have +1200 odds, the Philadelphia Phillies have +1400 odds, and the Miami Marlins have +25,000 odds.

Of course, these odds are subject to change in the coming months with free agency starting officially on November 4.

The Mets have six players from the 2019 team that will become free agents: Luis Avilan, Brad Bach, Rajai Davis, Todd Frazier, Rene Rivera, and Zack Wheeler. Depending on who stays and who goes will impact the team's odds to win the 2020 World Series.

After winning 86 games in 2019, it could make sense for the Mets to sign free agents like catcher Yasmani Grandal or veteran pitcher Cole Hamels, according to SNY's John Harper. The team could also make a trade to improve the bullpen or get another starting pitcher.
