There were some questions surrounding how Giants wide receiver Golden Tate felt following his season debut against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 5.

Tate, who returned from a four-game suspension to start his Giants career, said following the 28-10 loss, that he would've liked more touches.

"Obviously I wish I had a few more opportunities to help us win," Tate said.

On Monday, as Tate and the Giants turn their attention to their quick turnaround against the Patriots on Thursday, the wideout cleared the air. He wasn't having any thoughts out there that he was unhappy.

"First things first, if there anyone needs any clarification, just ask me. Don't assume my words," Tate said. "The only thing I was saying is that I hope I'm more involved at some point. I do understand that this was my first week back. There's a process to this. When you throw someone just right into the fire, things can happen another way."

"I'm far from being unhappy," Tate added. "I'm very happy to be a New York Giant. I'm very happy to be back in this locker room and be back playing football. I think it would be more alarming if I said, 'No, I don't want to play more. I don't want more passes.' I would look at that guy a little funny."

In the game, Tate had only three catches for 13 yards. Moving forward, the Giants could be without fellow receiver Sterling Shepard, who entered the concussion protocol on Monday. That, plus more time spent with the team following his suspension, should help Tate see more targets in Week 6.

In regard to Giants head coach Pat Shurmur on Tate's postgame comments, he wasn't thinking much of them, much like Tate.

"I think those were taken a little bit out of context. I don't think he was being critical. He had a role and of course when you ask a receiver if they want the ball, they're going to want it. He's a very positive guy. Great influence on the team and I don't think there's anything to it, quite frankly," Shurmur said.

The coach also added that Tate's numbers will probably see an uptick on Thursday.

"Well we were trying at times to get him the ball the other night, but obviously there will be more opportunities for Golden this week," Shurmur said.
