The Giants will likely face Mark Sanchez -- yes, that Mark Sanchez -- when they take on the Washington Redskins next week.
The former Jets quarterback replaced Colt McCoy in Washington's 28-13 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night after McCoy suffered a season-ending broken fibula in the first half.
Sanchez, who hadn't appeared in a game since 2016, was 13 for 21 with 100 yards and one interception in McCoy's absence. The only touchdown drive he led was on his first play, when he handed the ball off to Adrian Peterson for a 90-yard touchdown rush.
The 32-year-old Sanchez went 33-29 in four seasons with the Jets, leading them to the AFC Championship Game in his first two seasons before going 14-17 in his final two years.
Since leaving New York, Sanchez threw for 3,127 yards, 18 touchdowns and 17 interceptions in 15 games with the Eagles and Dallas Cowboys.
Washington is already without Alex Smith, who suffered a season-ending injury on Nov. 18 against the Houston Texans. The Redskins will need to sign another quarterback as Sanchez's backup.
