The NFL Draft is less than a month away, and the Giants will be putting together official visits for some of the top prospects they're interested in adding to their Big Board at the end of April.

One of those players is LSU LB Devin White, who told NOLA.com on Sunday that he will have a pre-draft visit with the Giants. He also mentioned the Buccaneers, who own the No. 5 pick before the Giants' sixth overall selection, and the Bengals (No. 11 pick) will host him as well.

White is considered by many to be the top linebacker in this draft class, with Michigan's Devin Bush also at the top of the heap. The Giants certainly need to upgrade their second tier, especially on the outside. White, though, is an inside linebacker that would be projected to take the starting role from B.J. Goodson if the Giants were to bring him aboard. Alec Ogletree, a defensive captain, would be next to him.

The 6-foot-1, 240-pound White didn't participate at LSU's Pro Day after posting a 4.42 40-yard dash and 39.5-inch vertical among other great numbers at the combine. Giants GM Dave Gettleman and head coach Pat Shurmur were able to interview White at the combine, and he thought he nailed it.

"We watched straight film," White told NJ.com about the Pro Day meeting with the Giants. "Tell me what was going on. They were picking my brain, and I think I put on a show for them."

Though White is a tremendous talent, the Giants have other needs to address than inside linebacker. Unless they believe he can be converted to an outside backer, White shouldn't be used at No. 6 by Big Blue. A quarterback or pure edge rusher would be the safer bet. However, the Giants also own the No. 17 pick, and could make some moves if they're enthralled by White.

An All-American and 2018 Dick Butkus Award winner for being the best linebacker in college football, White totaled a whopping 123 tackles (12 for loss), three sacks, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and six passes defended in 13 games with the Tigers. This came after a breakout sophomore season in 2017, where he tallied 133 total tackles, 4.5 sacks, and one interception.

As he begins his official visits, White is confident he can translate that type of production to the NFL level. He's also confident he will hear his name called in the first five picks.

"I'm trying to go Top 5," White said last month. "Whether that's one through five, I want to be that pick and I want to show that team I'm willing and ready to come in and be the leader of that defense."
