The Giants still believe they are in "win now" mode, which means they need to add players who can help them immediately. Unfortunately, that could be difficult on the first two days of the draft, especially if they use one of their picks on a quarterback who likely won't play this year.

The Giants also have no third-round pick in this draft, after using it in the supplemental draft last year on cornerback Sam Beal. Still, they hold two picks in the first 37 selections and that's huge for a team that needs a lot of help.

The NFL Draft is 2 1/2 months away, and they'll have to get through the combine, pro days and interviews before their draft board settles down. But here's an early look at what the Giants might do on Days 1 and 2:

First round (6th overall): QB Dwayne Haskins, Ohio State

This will be a tough call for Giants GM Dave Gettleman, especially if he falls in love with Haskins at some point. They desperately need a Quarterback of the Future, but this organization still really believes it can be a playoff contender in the present.

The idea of adding a top-10 pick to their offensive or defensive line will be tempting. Gettleman will love it if the No. 1 Hog Mollie, Alabama's Jonah Williams, is there at No. 6. He's the right tackle (and future left tackle) they so desperately need.

He also could be enticed by an edge rusher like Clemson's Clelin Ferrell or even Houston defensive tackle Ed Oliver if he wants some inside push. But honestly, how much longer can they keep kicking their future quarterback problem down the road?

Second round (37th overall): OL Chris Lindstrom, Boston College

If the Giants don't take an offensive lineman in Round 1, lock it in that they'll take one here. The 6-foot-4, 303-pound Lindstrom is a three-year starter, mostly at right guard, though he has played some right tackle. He's athletic and some scouts think he could step right in to a starting job.

The Giants need help on the right side, whether they re-sign free agent guard Jamon Brown or not. And Gettleman thinks the interior line is just as important as the tackle spots. Also, 15 years ago the Giants did pretty well drafting a Boston College guard in Round 2 (Chris Snee).

Third round (forfeited when they selected CB Sam Beal in the 2018 supplemental draft)

The Giants don't regret taking the 6-foot-1, 180-pound Beal out of Western Michigan. They thought he could be an immediate contributor last season before he injured his shoulder, and many hailed him as one of the best supplemental draft picks in years. His presence on the roster and potential even allowed the Giants the freedom to trade Eli Apple, a former first-round pick.

Right now, Beal figures to be a starter in the 2019 season, assuming he's fully healthy.

Could the Giants have done better had they kept the pick? It's hard to say. There could be some decent linemen here, like Wisconsin's 6-foot-6, 328-pound guard/center Michael Dieter. This is probably around where Michigan OLB Chase Winovich will go also if his ankle checks out.

Had Beal been in this draft, though, he might have gone long before the Giants picked at the top of the third round.
