When the Giants open their 2019 season Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys, they will have two quarterbacks available for the 4:25 p.m. kickoff at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

After practice Friday, head coach Pat Shurmur revealed New York's plans to start the campaign at quarterback, where veteran Eli Manning has been the offense's starter for the past 15 years.

As Shurmur noted throughout the preseason, most recently Aug. 23 after the Giants' 25-23 win over the Cincinnati Bengals, Manning remains Big Blue's starter -- at least to begin the regular season.

But beyond Manning, the Giants have the rest of the position set before the opener.

Among the biggest storylines since the 2019 NFL draft in April, sixth overall pick and rookie quarterback Daniel Jones has solidified his spot on the roster.

Shurmur shared Friday that Jones would join Manning as one of the Giants' two active quarterbacks on Sunday's roster, with the rookie backing up the veteran.

"He's ready to go," Shurmur said of Jones.

With the quarterbacks set for Sunday, third-string journeyman Alex Tanney -- who made the 53-man roster over 2018 NFL draft fourth-round pick Kyle Lauletta -- is inactive.

One snap away from playing, Jones impressed the Giants during his first taste of pro football in August.

In four preseason games, he completed 29 of 34 passes (85.3 percent) for 416 yards and two touchdowns to no interceptions.
