The Giants have released LB Tae Davis from the roster in order to make room for Leonard Williams.

Davis was in the midst of the second year of his three-year contract, but was slowly seeing his snap count diminish over the duration of the season despite being a starter in Week 1 for the Giants. Davis was inactive for the Giants in four of the last five games.

The second-year man out of Chattanooga played in a total of 18 games for the Giants--starting five of them.

The signing of LB Deone Bucannon last week seemed to have been the final nail in the coffin for Davis, Stapleton reported.

The Jets traded Williams to the Giants on Monday for a 2020 third round pick and a 2021 fifth round pick, that could become a fourth rounder if the Giants sign Williams--an impending 2020 unrestricted free agent--to a long term deal in the offseason.
