The Giants have officially placed long snapper Zak DeOssie on injured reserve, the team announced Saturday. They have signed Colin Holba off the practice squad to take DeOssie's roster spot.

It was previously reported that the move was possible on Thursday when DeOssie was listed on the Giants' injury report with both knee and wrist issues. The Post reported on Friday that he had suffered a torn meniscus.

DeOssie, a 13-year veteran, is not eligible to return in 2019 and is a free agent at the end of the season.

DeOssie and Eli Manning are the only remaining members of the Giants' last two Super Bowl teams. He has been a special teams captain in each of the last nine seasons.

"Zak's been a guy around here who has played at a high level," head coach Pat Shurmur said. "He's a big-time Giant, and I'm sure he's played through soreness in his career. This is just something that's kind of revealed itself."

Holba was a sixth-round pick of the Steelers in 2017 but was cut prior to the season. He's played for both the Jaguars and 49ers since then, and was signed to the Giants' practice squad earlier this month. He appeared in San Francisco's first two games of the year this season.
