Giants head coach Pat Shurmur made sure to discuss his own team and credit the Vikings following a 28-10 loss to Minnesota in Week 5.

"We faced a good football team. There were times in the game we presented ourselves with opportunities... we didn't take advantage of them," Shurmur said.

But his most interesting comment following the game was his comments about some... future comments.

When asked about the officiating in the game, Shurmur was none too pleased. But he bit his tongue, promising his thoughts will come in the future.

"That was one of a number of things I talked about...," Shurmur started to say, and then paused for a few moments.

"Hold that thought," Shurmur then continued. "I'm going to get to it at some point... it's going to be epic. But not today."

Specifically, Shurmur appeared to be unhappy with the job the officiating crew did protecting quarterback Daniel Jones as he was hit throughout the game, as the question he was responding to was aimed toward Jones and the refs. The Vikings had four sacks and eight total QB hits in the game.

Shurmur has previously submitted complaints to the NFL about officials already this year. But against the Vikings, the Giants had five total penalties for 45 yards while the Vikings had more than double, 12 in total for 112 yards.

Heading into Week 5, the Giants had an average of 6.5 penalties called against them per game, tied for the sixth-lowest total in the NFL with the Chiefs and Eagles.

Along with Jones, another questionable issue with the refs involved rookie cornerback Deandre Baker, who was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct for looking at a Vikings' player. Questionable calls appeared to take place for both sides.
