Giants offensive line lands mid-tier 2019 grade from PFF

Kevin Zeitler was among NFL's best

While the Giants have room to improve in most places, Pro Football Focus considered their offensive line near the middle of the pack in 2019.

PFF released their end of season rankings of every offensive line in the NFL, and the Giants came in at No. 17 overall.

That grade was actually a higher mark than four playoff teams this season. Those include the Seattle Seahawks (27th), Buffalo Bills (21st), Houston Texans (20th) and Minnesota Vikings (19th).

Here's how PFF broke down the Giants' rank:

"Kevin Zeitler provided the steady play at guard the Giants expected when they traded for him, grading above 70.0 as both a pass blocker and a run blocker this year. The tackle duo of Nate Solder and Mike Remmers hasn't provided that same steady performance, however. Solder's 57 pressures allowed this season are seven more than any other player, and the 97 combined pressures allowed for the duo is the most in the NFL."

Zeitler's strong play this season in 15 games earned him an overall grade of 76.4 via PFF's grading system. That was good for the sixth-best grade handed to a guard this season. The Giants acquired Zeitler via trade with Jabrill Peppers in March 2019 in a deal that sent Odell Beckham Jr. and Olivier Vernon to the Cleveland Browns.

Aside from Zeitler, the Giants could stand to improve across their offensive line.

The second-highest graded player on the Giants' O-line was Solder, who clocked in at 64.7, while Remmers landed at 64.3. Those two marks are good for the 45th and 47th best tackle grades from PFF, respectively. Not great, but those two do land in PFF's "average" category.

Moving forward, two names to watch in terms of changes include Remmers and center Jon Halapio, both pending free agents. Halapio ranked as PFF's 32nd-best center in the 32-team league that the NFL is.

Guard Will Hernandez, the final member of the Giants' starting O-line yet to be mentioned, earned the 52nd overall spot at his position in PFF's grades.
