Since the New York Giants hired Joe Judge as their new head coach Jan. 8, the past two weeks have been a whirlwind. As the former New England Patriots assistant fills out his first coaching staff, he does so down in Mobile, Ala., at the Senior Bowl.

While the Giants' evaluation process falls more on the shoulders of general manager Dave Gettleman and the scouting department, Judge looks to complete his cabinet of assistants, which started off by hiring offensive coordinator Jason Garrett and defensive coordinator Patrick Graham in the past week.

Where Judge goes with the rest of his staff remains to be seen as the process continues throughout the week in Mobile, but the first-time head coach knows what he wants when delving into each candidate.

"What I'm really looking for within the interview process is, I want to know how you can teach,'' Judge said, according to Paul Schwartz of the New York Post.

"Make me better by listening to you instruct. There are a lot of guys who have a base of knowledge. You can talk to any of the guys at practice out here and put them on a board and they can draw up something.

"Everyone's got a fancy scheme and there's a lot of guys who can draw from their past experience. But teach me how to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Teach me. Make me the best peanut butter and jelly sandwich-maker in the history of the world."

Quarterbacks coach Jerry Schuplinski, running backs coach Burton Burns and wide receivers coach Tyke Tolbert were reportedly the first dominoes to fall on offense, as SNY's Ralph Vacchiano confirmed, but the Giants still have openings at tight ends coach and offensive line coach.

Although the Giants appeared set Tuesday to hire former Cleveland Browns head coach Freddie Kitchens in an unknown capacity, that hire has not yet been confirmed.

But with Garrett in place, the Giants have another quarterback-driven developer to lead growing rookie Daniel Jones into 2020. Combined with versatile running back Saquon Barkley entering Year 3, Judge has an identity in mind.

"We've got to build a foundation this year, OK?" Judge told reporters. "This isn't about a quick fix. This isn't about getting somebody in here who's got some magic solution or some sexy offensive name in the paper in terms of what they may be running.

"This is about finding someone who's consistently performed, who's gotten the most out of his players -- different players over the course of time in different circumstances -- and that we can lay that base for our players to build on for years to come."
