Giants CB Janoris Jenkins didn't help himself when reporters approached him at his locker on Thursday to discuss his inappropriate tweets at a fan on Wednesday during practice.

For context, Jenkins -- who was not participating in practice due to an ankle injury -- went back at a fan on Twitter, calling him a "retard." Jenkins later issued an apology, but after his latest comments to the media, that apology didn't seem too heartfelt.

Reporters asked why it took him so long to apologize and this was Jenkins' answer:

"Because I really didn't see nothing so bad with it," he said, "you know what I'm saying, until people like y'all just started picking it up, making stories. So I just decided to apologize."

As to why he used the word in the first place, Jenkins said "Where I'm from, we use all kind of words for slang. If it offends anybody I'm sorry. It's a culture that I grew up in, where I'm from. If you don't know, it's a hood thing or whatever."

And if those two statements weren't enough to realize Jenkins is entirely in the wrong here, he continued to say "next question" when asked questions like "Will you continue to use that word?"

Giants head coach Pat Shurmur spoke about the initial incident on Wednesday, saying "he shouldn't be tweeting during practice." But now he will definitely need to answer about the situation even more, as this has officially become a distraction.

It was just two weeks ago that Jenkins spewed his frustrations after a loss to the Packers, where he questioned DC James Bettcher's scheme with him not following the team's best receiver.

"You've got to use your weapons. I'm the only one in the league that doesn't travel (with the opponent's top wide receiver). I don't understand why," he said.

Now Shurmur and the Giants have to cool down another situation that stems from the veteran cornerback.
