The Giants seem almost certain to take an offensive lineman or Isaiah Simmons if they stick at No. 4 in the 2020 NFL Draft. But the buzz on Monday morning was about Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert.

According to Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo of NFL.com, the Giants have "spent a lot of time researching" Herbert, including multiple FaceTime conversations with head coach Joe Judge.

With Joe Burrow expected to go No. 1 to the Bengals, most believe the next two quarterbacks off the board will be Tua Tagovailoa and Herbert. But what could the Giants want with Herbert?

Since Daniel Jones is entering his second year in the league and showed signs during his rookie campaign that he could be the Giants' next franchise QB, it would be stunning to see the Giants take Herbert at No. 4.

So maybe the Giants really like Herbert but their main goal is trying to scare a different team into trading up in order to nab him?

The Miami Dolphins (No. 5), Los Angeles Chargers (No. 6), Carolina Panthers (No. 7), and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (No. 14) could all be looking for a quarterback.

While the Bucs just landed Tom Brady, he's only under contract for two more seasons. And it's fair to believe Tampa will want someone ready to take over when those two years are up.

Meanwhile, Giants GM Dave Gettleman said Friday that he will "very seriously entertain" trading back.

"We're sitting there with the fourth pick in the draft. I'm gonna make calls. Anybody that wants to move up I'm gonna say 'listen, we don't have much time. We can't fool around,'" Gettleman explained. "I'd like to get the parameters of a deal in place before we're on the clock. That would be the best thing."
