The Giants' quarterback situation this week holds a lot of uncertainties. Daniel Jones' availability is still up in the air, while Eli Manning takes first-team reps. And at the end of the day, head coach Pat Shurmur says it's his call.

But, as of Wednesday, no party is giving any indication as to who will be under center.

"We'll have to see," Shurmur said.

"I think I'm trying to prepare to play and like I said we're going to take it day-by-day," Jones added.

"Yeah, I don't know. We'll kinda see how the week goes," Manning said.

It's too early to tell who will be leading the offense, but we can make some educated guesses based on what else Shurmur said. Jones was a limited participant at practice, and he noted feeling good. So, if that continues throughout the week and he gets cleared to play, it doesn't sound like Shurmur will hesitate.

"I think if he's ready to play, he should play," Shurmur said, which parroted his Tuesday conference call.

If Jones can play, the Giants want to see the rookie getting the reps. Plain and simple. In turn, Manning gets the short end of the stick despite Sunday potentially being his final home start.

It's not something the veteran is thinking about, though -- well, at least not publicly. But after finally getting game action for the first time since he was benched in Week 3, Manning obviously wants another start, especially after looking solid in the first half against the Eagles.

"I feel good. Didn't take too many shots. Body feels fresh," he said.

Of course, the Giants won't want to rush Jones back and increase his chances for a more serious injury. Shurmur said "I think we need to be smart coming back from any injury," and understands not only the importance of Jones to the franchise, but how much goes into playing quarterback other than throwing a ball.

"In the case of a quarterback besides from going out and throwing, they need to be able to protect themselves and part of his game is moving around," Shurmur explained. "So I just want to make sure he's healthy enough and fit enough to do that."

Jones deflected a question on whether or not he can make cuts on his ankle, but he did mention feeling better than he did last week when he was wearing a boot on his foot.

"I'm able to move around. I'm able to do what I need to do to throw," he said.

"I feel good. I think I'm healing quickly and just gotta keep doing what I'm told to do in the training room and try to get back out there as quick as I can."

The Giants will likely wait until Friday when the official injury report goes out to deliver a clarification on their quarterback situation. But Jones could be given up until gametime on Sunday to be deemed healthy enough to suit up.

In the meantime, Manning will continue to prepare like he is starting, while Jones rehabs and practices. And when the time comes, Shurmur will make his exclusive call.

"Still too many what-ifs," Manning said. "My focus is just getting ready to play."
