Giants rookie RB Saquon Barkley (hamstring) was working on his own without pads again at practice Monday.

It has been a week since Barkley suffered a mild hamstring strain at practice before the Giants traveled to Detroit for their sessions with the Lions. The rest of the team practiced in full pads today, but barkley ran his own individual drills on the side.

According to ESPN's Jordan Raanan, Barkley looked to be running well during those drills.

It has been the Giants' mission to be cautious with their No. 2 overall pick, as they don't want to further the strain by getting him back out too early. Head coach Pat Shurmur said the team "we'll be smart with him as we move along here" when the injury initially occured.

The injury may not be too bad, as SNY's Ralph Vacchiano was told by two teammates that Barkley was telling them he was fine after it happened.

The caution, though, will likely continue throughout the week with the Giants set to take on the Jets this Friday for Week 3 of the preseason. It would be nice to get Barkley back on the field for more live reps, but at the end of the day, getting him set for Week 1 against the Jaguars is the main priority.
